Six Reasons Why You Will Like Turning Stone Resort

By Jolana Klobouk

Are you looking for a great romantic getaway? A great world class golf destination? A spa resort with luxurious accommodations? A moderately priced Inn with a multitude of dining and gaming options? The Turning Stone Resort and Casino in the heart of Upstate New York offers this and much more.

My husband and I recently spent the weekend at Turning Stone Resort and will be definitely planning more getaways there in the future. Yes, there is a huge Casino with various gaming options but to be honest, there was so much else to do, we were not able to see it all.

Great Entertainment

What drew us to the Turning Stone Resort that particular weekend was their entertainment. I did not want to miss my favourite group, Collective Soul, play in their 800 seat Showroom. It is a fantastic venue to get up close a personal with top name performers and entertainers. With about 125 acts a year, it is easy to see why it has been nominated for Casino of the Year awards. Some top name acts, which have appeared in the showroom, include the likes of Bill Cosby, Pink, Jethro Tull and Tony Bennett. A variety such as this helps make it one of the busiest club venues in the world. The new Event Center is also a great venue for larger concerts, sporting events and conferences.

Variety Of Accommodations

One of the best things about the Turning Stone Resort and Casino is the range of accommodations available to suit every budget. The Lodge at Turning Stone is a 98 all-suite luxury retreat and perfect for romantic excursions and a more relaxed getaway from it all. From the outside it resembles a grand Adirondack lodge and inside it is elegant, sumptuous and a perfect place to unwind. The standard two-room suites at the Lodge include wood floors, ten-foot high ceilings and a balcony or terrace with teak furniture.

If you want to be part of the action the Turning Stone, then booking a room in The Tower Hotel is your best bet. The Tower Hotel has convenient access to the fitness center, parking garage, the Showroom, Casino and various dining options. The rooms are chic and decorated with modern amenities, comfortable beds and large marble bathrooms. Since The Tower rises 19 stories, the view from some of these rooms can be marvellous.

The Hotel at the Turning Stone is another accommodation option, which is connected to all the facilities of the resort. Built as the original hotel on site, The Hotel rooms offer king-sized or double beds, cable TV with in-room movie channels and Nintendo, coffee makers, and hair dryers. If you want to pamper yourself a little more, reserve a Jacuzzi Room or Suite, Patio Suite, or Luxury Suite.

The Inn at the Turning Stone Resort offers moderate priced accommodations. Located a few minutes away from the resort complex, free shuttle service is offered to and from the casino and a continental breakfast is also included with your stay. Another affordable option is the Villages at Turning Stone RV Park. It offers campers 175 paved sites including full utility hook-up, various recreational activities and also free shuttles to and from the Resort.

Lots of Dining Options

As with the variety in accommodation options, Turning Stone also offers dining choices to fit every palate and pocketbook. From gourmet restaurants to casual caf

Budget Travel To Any Summer Ski Resort

By Jonny Goldmann

When most people think of ski resorts, they naturally picture mountains full of fresh fallen snow and people huddled around a roaring fire enjoying a cup of hot cocoa. While this image is certainly accurate, and ski resorts are some of the most popular of all vacation destinations, the prices of these resort getaways can often be beyond the means of the budget traveler.

There is another way, however, to enjoy these upscale resorts for a fraction of their in season costs. Many ski resort locations stay open all year round, and the prices of lodging, meals and local entertainment often drops precipitously after winter has passed.

Visiting a ski resort in the middle of the summer does not mean there will be nothing to do. In fact, many people prefer visiting these resorts in the off season, since their mountain locations provides for a comfortable, activity packed getaway.

For instance, most ski resorts have ample hiking trails through beautiful mountain vistas. All those great cross country ski trails become wonderful hiking and biking trails after the snow has melted, and the scenery can be even more spectacular, and more comfortable, without the cold and snow of winter.

Besides hiking and biking, there are a great many other activities to be offered as well, including horseback riding, fishing swimming, and other outdoor activities. In addition, many ski resorts use their ski lifts as fun summer sky rides, and open their slopes to such summertime activities as tobogganing down the side of the mountain. The kids in particular love these fun rides.

Another great thing about visiting a ski resort area in summer is that the mountain location often means cooler temperatures. Even when the lowland temperature is stiflingly hot, the temperature in the mountains can be refreshingly cool and comfortable. Of course, it is important to check the monthly weather for your destination and to avoid the rainy season

There are ski resorts in many states around the country, and the northeastern and western parts of the country have a great wealth of these resorts. While many of them stay open year round and offer a host of off season activities, not all do, so it is important to verify the summer activities of the resort you are considering.

It is also a good idea to research the activities that are offered by each resort. With the concentration of ski resorts in some areas of the country, it will be easy to compare the various offerings and choose the one that best suits your individuals needs.

It is also important to research the surrounding area and see what else there is to do when you are not at the resort. While many ski resorts have plenty of activities to keep you busy for days, you will probably want to venture off the property at least a few times.

The Hong Kong Disneyland Resort

By Pete Anderson

On September 12, 2005, the newest member of the Disneyland family of theme parks and resorts opened to the public. Hong Kong Disneyland is located on the island of Lantau, positioned to look out over Penny’s Bay and the Chinese Sea. Started as a joint operation between The Walt Disney Company and the Hong Kong SAR government, Hong Kong Disneyland brings the magic of Disney to a whole new environment, respecting the aspects of the culture of the country where it makes its home. The park boasts 2 glamorous hotels, the Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel.

Hong Kong Disneyland has some of the attractions that will be familiar to visitors of Disney’s other parks. Main Street looks like a piece of Americana transplanted, with the Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad for a trip around the park. There’s also Adventureland, with the exciting Jungle River Cruise and all of the animal sights and sounds. Tarzan has made his home in Adventureland, where guests can take a ride on a raft to cross to Tarzan Island where they can visit Tarzan’s Tree House. For those who love the movie The Lion King, there is a musical performance based on the story as well – The Festival of the Lion King.

In the original Disneyland, Fantasyland is well known for the symbol that people think of when speaking of Disney – Cinderella’s Castle. Hong Kong Disneyland’s version is the castle of Sleeping Beauty, where children can explore the fairy tale and their own imagination. They can also visit the grotto of another Disney princess, Snow White. Cinderella is there too, represented by a beautiful carousel ride. There’s everyone’s favorite bear at The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride. More popular Disney rides include the Mad Hatter Tea Cups and Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Children and grown-ups can watch a 3-D movie with all the favorite Disney characters at Mickey’s PhilharMagic or The Golden Mickeys at Disney’s Storybook Theater.

The fourth area, Tommorrowland, gives visitors a Disney vision of the future. The three main attractions include 2 of the fastest most exciting rides in the park. Space Mountain is a literally rocketing rollercoaster. Orbitron lets you pilot your own jet through the sky of whirling planets. You can also play a cosmic game of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters with the whole family. In 2006 guests will have a new adventure to enjoy. Autopia will have visitors driving futuristic electric cars around a track meant to envision the roads of tomorrow.

Visitors can choose to stay inside the park at one of the two beautiful new hotels. The Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is designed to take you back in time to the grandness of the Victorian era. The European influence is obvious in the 400 luxuriously appointed rooms. Guests can enjoy spa services at the hotel as well. At Disney’s Hollywood Hotel, the 600 guest rooms are decorated in an art deco style, meant to bring back the allure of the golden age of Hollywood.

Although the park exposes local visitors to traditions and exhibits from the Western world, local culture is honored as well. At the opening ceremonies children sang in English, Cantonese and Putonghua. The Hong Kong Children’s Choir was followed by other local traditional performances such as Chinese acrobats and dancers performing a Lion Dance. The ceremonies were attended by members of the local government as well as representatives from Disneyland theme parks in other countries. The culture of the Hong Kong region is also reflected in the cuisine served throughout the park. Yes, guests can find food that is more often served in the West, but also local dishes that they’ll enjoy as well.

Vacations At Reunion Resort Orlando

By Peter Kenny

When choosing your vacation at Reunion Resort, Orlando, you must first select how you would like to book- either as a complete package through Reunion itself, where they take care of everything from checking you in to arranging everything you may need or wish for e.g. tickets to attractions etc. Alternatively you can book with a property’s individual owner so that you know precisely what the home looks like, its exact location within the development etc. Either way you are assured of the utmost quality to make your stay memorable.

Condominiums vary in size from 1 to 3 bedrooms and the villas can range from 2 to 7 bedrooms. Of course with the villas you have your very own private pool/spa and quite often a games and/or fitness room in addition to all the facilities Reunion has to offer generally.

Recreation

Golf is a major feature of the Reunion Resort, Orlando. It can very proudly boast THREE Championship Courses: – the Legacy Course (Arnold Palmer Signature Course), the Independence Course (Tom Watson Signature Course). Both of these are already open and the Tradition Course (Jack Nicklaus Signature Course) is currently under construction and plans to open early in 2006.

Additional recreation facilities include:

- Equestrian Centre and Stables (due for completion late 2005). This will allow guests to indulge in their passion for horse riding or for beginners it is a perfect way to get around and receive an alternate view of Reunion.

- Water and Swimming Pavilion (due for completion summer 2005). This is going to be a state-of-the-art; multi-level, multi-acre water park, which will include rubber tube, rides along a lazy river, waterfalls, 2 thrilling waterslides and children’s pools. Surrounding these features are lovely landscaped gardens where you can relax in the wonderful Floridian sunshine and enjoy a refreshing cool drink at the pool bar.

In addition to the Water Park, there are several “quiet pools” scattered throughout the Resort as well as the Seven Eagles Pool Pavilion which offers a beautiful pool, 2 jacuzzis and the chance to dine at the Pavilion Bar and Grille.

Kids facilities…

Adjacent to this is the Kids Activity Centre where children aged 4-12 are invited to join in all the many varied activities on offer. In addition to daily activities (a small fee may be applicable for certain activities) there are Kids Crew Camps on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Older children are catered for too. They are invited to come along for volleyball, movies and many other fun things with people their own age.

Nearby is the Fitness Centre. It offers an array of cardiovascular equipment and hopes to introduce group classes and personal trainers in the near future.

Other facilities which are planned for the future include a Spa and Wellness Centre (due 2007), more Resort pools, tennis courts (due late 2006), biking/hiking/walking trails and Reunion Square Entertainment Complex consisting of shops, restaurants, and lots more (due 2006).

Once Reunion Resort and Club is completed (2008), it will be in a class of its own offering you the ultimate vacation. You will be based in a luxury Resort with varied and up to the minute facilities and yet will remain a mere 6miles/10minute drive away from Walt Disney World and all it has to offer.
