Baltic Cruise Trip To Tallin, Estonia

If you’ve ever though about a cruise to the baltic sea then you simply must make sure that you visit Tallin, the capital city of Estonia, established in the twelth centuty.   Tallin is a beautiful example of a medieval european city which dates back to the dark ages of the twelth century. Tallinn city lies just around fortie miles from Helsinki the capital city of Finland albeit across the Gulf of Finland. Tallinn is recognised as a World Heritage Site and quet rightly so. Make sure you do at least some walking on foot. I heartly recommend a walking tour around the old streets in the old town centre.  There’s no need to go on expense excursions if you’re visiting via a cruise trip, it’s much better to just explore yourself, preferably by foot. Of course not everyone can do walking tours in which case you should consider a bus trip. If you’re lucky enough to live in Northern Europe then you’re right on the doorstep. UK travellers can make the voyage on Newcastle Cruises.

Estonia is the most Northerly Blatic State and it is also the smallest. Estonians are a very proud nation quite rightly proud of there own unique culture and customs. What is surprising is how independent they are despite only gaining independence from the Soviet Union 30 odd years ago. Like much of the Baltic States Estonia is pretty flat. Estonia has lots of Islands just off the Western seaboard which account for a good deal of Estonia’s land mass.

Ideally it is very clear that Tallinn is something that can have quite an effect on you and others, too. It can be challenging to cover all possible scenarios simply because there is so much concerned. There is a lot, we know, and that is the reason why we are taking a very short break to say a few words about this. This is important information that can help you, and there is no questioning that. Not many people had heard of Estonia or its captial city Tallinn until after the fall of the Soviet Union. As part of a pact between Hitler and Stalin, Estonia was merged into the Soviet Union just prior to the Second World War. Nobody, particularly from the west, saw this beautiful city for fifty years or more. Perhaps like me you didn’t know too much about Tallinn before visiting.

Many cruises to the baltic sea visit Tallinn. If you’re next cruise does then be sure to take in a day trip to this interesting capital city.
